Spring Luau raises more than $52,000!

The Dawn of Hope Foundation hosted the 10th annual Spring Luau, presented by Cherokee Distributing Company, on Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 6pm-10pm at Millennium Centre in Johnson City, TN. The Spring Luau is the Foundation’s largest annual fundraiser and a feature event in the Tri Cities area.

The event was a casual, tropical themed affair, which included a Hawaiian-style roast pig, heavy hors d’oeuvres, complimentary beverages at Harvey’s Island Tiki Bar, and beach themed music by 40 West.  Festivities also included chancing the odds in the Heads or Tails game, having fun taking complimentary photos with family & friends in the Tropical Photo Booth, testing the luck of guests who participated in the Big Kahuna Reverse Raffle for a chance to win $10,000, and bidding in the live & silent auctions!

The Spring Luau brings in funding that is vital to our success as an organization, and every year we are humbled by the generosity of all of those who contribute to the event. This year’s event was sponsored by more than 88 businesses & community partners and donors, and hosted more than 350 guests at the event; raising more than $52,000 in proceeds, which will help support Dawn of Hope’s mission to provide the highest quality of individualized and caring services to more than 210 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our region.

On behalf of the Dawn of Hope Board of Directors, Board of Trustees, Staff and Service Recipients, we extend our utmost gratitude to our event sponsors, in-kind sponsors, raffle ticket holders, donors and volunteers who helped to make this year’s Spring Luau an event to remember!

The night of the Luau, the $10,000 Reverse Raffle grand prize was split between three lucky winners – Michael Green, Kevin Horne and Steve Sonneberger.  Another $2,000 was dispersed in smaller cash prizes to sixteen other lucky winners.  Congratulations to all our winners!

The achievements of the 2014 Spring Luau were a result of the hard work of several very important individuals – the Dawn of Hope Luau Planning Committee. Thank you to Jim Jordan, Cheri Quick, Jeff Brunson, Angie Campbell, Wendi Carter, Jeff Derby, Sam East, Marsha Grindstaff, Rob Hungate, Harvey Justice, Dustin Mohr, Maureen Mulroy, David Quick, Rob Sampson, Lynda Wexler, and Nora Jane Wexler for all of their time and efforts with ensuring this year’s Spring Luau was a tremendous success!
