Dawn of Hope Residential Team Leader, Cosmo Tice, was awarded the 2016 East Tennessee Region Outstanding Manager Award of Excellence by Tennessee Community Organizations (TNCO) at a banquet held in Nashville, TN on July 21, 2016. Mr. Tice has been employed by Dawn of Hope since 2008 during which time he has displayed outstanding leadership qualities; enthusiasm, compassion, integrity, initiative, creativity, and professionalism. His dedication to Dawn of Hope’s mission to provide high quality, caring, individualized services to enrich the lives of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Northeast Tennessee makes him truly worthy of this award. Bobbi Love, Director of the Residential Program, explains “Cosmo’s compassion and creativity have been a great asset to the individuals we serve as well as the Residential Team; he treats everyone like they are a member of his family and makes every effort to ensure their needs are met.” Dawn of Hope is proud to employ individuals like Mr. Tice, those who truly want to make a difference in their community.
Cantech Industries, a family owned business that has been manufacturing pressure sensitive tape since 1950 and has had a presence in Johnson City since the mid 1980’s, was awarded the 2016 East Tennessee Region Business of the Year Award of Excellence by Tennessee Community Organizations (TNCO) at a banquet held in Nashville, TN on July 21, 2016. A longtime partner of Dawn of Hope, Cantech Industries is and has been an advocate for community integrated employment (employment of disabled & nondisabled individuals within local businesses) and currently employs five Dawn of Hope service recipients. Plant Manager, Mark Patton says “It is a blessing and encouragement to all of us each day to work with the service recipients and other employers are missing out on a wonderful experience if they don’t get on board with Integrated Employment”. Cantech also provides contract work to our Vocational Program where individuals gain real life work skills and expectations for employment which facilitate an easier transition into community
integrated employment and builds self confidence in the individual to pursue community employment opportunities. Lee Chase, Dawn of Hope Executive Director, explains “Cantech has been and continues to be very supportive of our organization and constantly seeks ways in which to further benefit the mission.” Dawn of Hope is proud to have partnerships with businesses, like Cantech, that make a difference in the community and enhance the lives of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
