Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required. Active Class D drivers license. F endorsement must be obtained within 30 days of employment. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.

General Requirements: Must have ability to deal tactfully with the parents and coworkers, exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions; understand and follow oral and written instructions, and be able to communicate in oral and written form clearly, concisely and convincingly. Must have ability to appreciate the problems and stresses inherent in individuals who are developmentally challenged. All positions may require moderate lifting as a part of direct care duties.

Direct Support Professionals

Residential
Responsible for assisting in the implementation and coordination of the supports service recipients receive in a home environment. Participates in attending to the total spectrum of the needs of the service recipients including but not limited to housing, family relationships, social activities, education, finances, employment, health, recreation, and records.

Developmental
Assists in planning, directing, and conducting activity programs for service recipients including assistance in personal habits such as grooming, bathing, feeding, dressing, toileting and self-discipline. Provides an atmosphere that is conducive to motivating desirable growth and development of the service recipients in a safe and secure surrounding.

Vocational
Involved in planning, directing and conducting a complete vocational service program for the persons served in the Vocational Services Program. May require moderate lifting related to production work and movement around the production/training areas to supervise individuals. May also require transporting individuals and or production materials into the community as well as working hours other than the normal day shift. Workstation to be in the sheltered workshop environment or in the community.

Van Driver
Operates a motor vehicle in order to transport service recipients to and from the center. Assists service recipients during loading and unloading operations. Full knowledge of State and local traffic regulations; knowledge of safety precautions; traffic hazards and basic vehicle maintenance practices and procedures are necessary along with a clean driving record.

LPN
Must be licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Tennessee. Knowledge of basic principles and practices of nursing. Assists Direct Support Staff in the support and care of developmentally disabled individuals in a home environment or agency setting with particular emphasis on medical needs. LPNs will function with the same duties as other agency Direct Support Staff including all direct care duties within a support setting. This includes assistance with eating, dressing, grooming, bathing, toileting, lifting, and any other duties that may be required to assist a supported individual.
