The $10,000 Big Spring Break Drawing and Silent Auction winners are.....

Mr. and Mrs. Garland Fields of Kingsport and Mr. and Mrs. James Price of Bristol each left the 3rd annual Big Spring Break Drawing and Silent Auction $5,000 richer splitting the $10,000 grand prize. On Thursday, April 12, 2007 the Dawn of Hope Foundation hosted the exciting event at the Holiday Inn in Johnson City. The event was a great success raising over $25,500.

The format of the event was a reverse raffle with the last ticket drawn winning the grand prize and every 25th ticket drawn winning $150. The winners of the $150 dollar cash prizes from Johnson City were John and Wendi Carter, Dan Eldridge, Mike Ferguson, Penny Rutledge, and Carol Sloan. Other winners included Richard Prescott of Corinth, Texas; Linda Phillips and Rick Story of Jonesborough, Doug Long of Church Hill, Christy Schaffer and Keith Wilson of Kingsport, K.D. Moore of Bristol, and Charles and Shane Odom of Elizabethton. Congratulations to all our winners!

Everyone had a great time listening to musical talents of Lightnin’ Charlie Dolinger as they awaited the announcement of the grand prize winners. Josh Smith, Newschannel 11 Morning Show Anchor and Dawn of Hope Foundation Board Member, served as emcee of the event while Miss Jonesborough, Erin Eberhart kept the crowd energized. Dawn of Hope participants Donna Fulkerson, Arthur Nave, and Randy Huffmans helped with the event by drawing the tickets from the raffle drum.

The event could not have been possible without the dedication of the event’s planning committee. They were Sam East, Duke Hall, Tom Harris, Jacob Higginbotham, Tim Jones, Jim Jordan, Harvey Justice, Jim Reed, Rob Sampson, and Josh Smith. Executive Director Lee Chase praised members of the committee for their successful undertaking of the event. In addition, he thanked members of the Dawn of Hope Foundation Board of Trustees and the Dawn of Hope Board of Directors for selling 332 raffle tickets with the top seller, Jim Reed selling 82.

The night’s festivities included a silent auction featuring goods and services from tri-cities businesses. Proceeds from the raffle were allocated to pay for the the cost of the renovations above the $1 million Capital Campaign goal. The total cost of the renovations totaled over $1.35 million to the Dawn of Hope at Stratton.
