Houses for Hope
On May 30 a Groundbreaking Ceremony was held to mark the new era at Dawn of Hope, Houses for Hope. The project consists of two homes being constructed in Carter County featuring three bedrooms, two full baths and a double garage. They will house no more than three service-recipients.
Meeting Needs
Houses for Hope began after discovering the struggles the residential services department was experiencing in trying to acquire affordable handicap accessible homes in the area. Up until now, Dawn of Hope has been faced with adding ramps, widening doorways and modifying showers to adapt the rental homes to the need of current service-recipients.
Funding
The Tennessee Housing Development Authority has provided funding to the Foundation to expand its venture to include six more homes to be built by the end of 2007. The grant is being administered by Eastern Eight, Inc., which is a Community Housing Development Organization serving eight counties in Northeast Tennessee.
